EGWracing 470 reaches the Italian Championship podium

The EGWracing with Niccolo’ Bertola as skipper and Danilo Alcidi as crew, proudly reahced the broze medal at the 470 class Italian Championship at Cesenatico (Italy), May 30-June 2 2009.

The project for the EGWracing 470 class started in September 2008 in association with the Italian Air Force from which the two sailors were shortlisted after an extensive research. The goal to qualify the EGWracing 470 for the London Olympic Games 2012 was very challenging since the beginning and Niccolo’ and Danilo have professionally achieved all the planned training goals and targets for the 2009.

Right after the medal was on his neck Niccolo’ said: “The weather conditions were really demanding and the pressure was quite high in order to reach the podium only after 8 months from the moment Danilo and I started the very first training day. My appreciation goes to the Eureka Group World (EGW) and its racing division -EGWracing- that is providing us with all the top notch boat, sails, marine equipment, logistics and amazing media products. The Italian Air Force's support through Lieutenant Colonel Loiudice in chief of the Sport Department has been priceless. I have never seen such attention to details as the one that EGW is putting in to this project. I have to admit that we have learned a lot not only of sailing, but also regarding the marketing campaign associated to our project. We have improved a lot in many areas. We will improve even more”.

Danilo was very pleased of his performance too. :Finally the pressure was off" he said with an arm on Niccolo’s shoulder that showed the great friendship that surrounds the two ailors. He added “I am proud of the results achieved with Niccolo' in such a short time from the moment we started. The Italian Air Force is providing the best instructors and staff and a reliable sponsor as the Eureka Group World (EGW) through its racing division EGWracing is paramount to improve the chances for a unique event called Olympic Games. Next step? World Championship in Copenhagen in August and I can assure you that looking at the calendar proposed by EGWracing till the 2012 is the best that any 470 sailor can ever get.“
